1:30 PM
PSAR South County Service Center

This is a candidate interview, not a speech. PSAR members get the floor to press a statewide candidate on the issues that hit our business: first-time buyer programs, mortgage bond allocations, transfer tax proposals, and how state financial policy shapes what gets built in San Diego County. Candidates remember the rooms where they got real questions. Make this one of them.

Bring your phone. A photo with a potential Lieutenant Governor is a good addition to your file, and it makes for a strong post when you tell your clients you were in the room advocating for them.

Fiona Ma was elected as California’s 34th State Treasurer in 2018, receiving 7,825,587 votes, the highest vote total for any state treasurer candidate in California history. As the first woman of color and the first female Certified Public Accountant elected to the position, Treasurer Ma serves as the primary banker for the world's fifth-largest economy. Additionally, Treasurer Ma chairs the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority, which awards sales tax exclusions to green manufacturers, electric vehicle producers, and clean technology innovators.

Prior to her election as State Treasurer, Ma built an extensive career in public service across state and local government. While serving on the California Board of Equalization from 2015 to 2019, she represented 9.5 million residents across 23 counties and ordered three external audits that instituted historic accountability reforms.

Treasurer Ma has been a licensed CPA in California since 1992 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Master's degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
