Do you know a fantastic PSAR REALTOR^®, Broker/Office Manager, or Affiliate? Now is the time to give them the recognition they deserve. Award Recipients will be announced at the REAL Awards on February 27th, 2026.

Nominations must be received by Monday, February 2nd, 5 pm.

PSAR shall recognize a REALTOR^®, Broker, and Affiliate who fulfill the following criteria:

REALTOR® of the Year award criteria

Outstanding loyalty and devotion to the advancement and success of the Association and the Real Estate Profession through attendance at meetings and services on committees, either as a member or chairperson.
Committee participation should be heavily weighted.
Conduct of Candidates’ real estate business and practices, in the judgment of candidates’ colleagues, in the most ethical manner at all times, representing the professional image, and true spirit of REALTORS®.
Promotion and practice of the Real Estate Code of Ethics and Standard of Practices.
Participation in Association-sponsored activities.
Participation in civic and community activities.
Participation in CAR and NAR.
The past recipient of the REALTOR® of the Year may be asked to present the award to the new recipient.
The immediate President shall not be considered for the REALTOR® of the Year award.

Broker/ Office Manager of the Year award criteria

Outstanding loyalty and devotion to the advancement of the Association and the Real Estate Profession.
Must exemplify the REALTOR® image and have an enviable record of service to the real estate profession and to the association.
Must demonstrate skill, expertise, and productivity in the role of a residential qualifying broker or manager, as well as a high rate of ethical conduct and professionalism.
The past recipient of the Broker Manager of the Year award shall present the award to the new recipient.
Special Recognition: The Board of Directors and or Executive Committee will also honor and recognize members who have demonstrated excellence in their commitment to the Association and/or the real estate profession.

Affiliate of the Year award criteria

Outstanding loyalty and devotion to the advancement of the Association and the Real Estate Profession.
Attendance at meetings and service on committees.
Conduct of candidates’ real estate-related business and practices.
Participation in Association-sponsored activities.
Participation in civic and community activities.
The past recipient of the Affiliate of the Year award shall present the award to the new recipient.

More Criteria Information and Past Recipients

The staff will accept anonymous nominations from the Recognition Committee, the public, PSAR Members, and or PSAR Staff. The names of individuals making nominations will remain
secret. The number of nominations shall not create an advantage for nominees. Award winners may not be the sitting President of the Association, and may not be past recipients of the specific award won.

The Recognition Committee will consist of the past recipient of REALTOR® of the Year, the Broker Manager of the Year and Affiliate of the Year, the Affiliate Director, and members of the Association Committee Council. Winners will be announced at our upcoming REAL Awards in 2026. At least one runner-up will be announced.

Donate - PSAR Food Drive

Help Feed Local Families During this Holiday Season

Donate non-perishable food at any PSAR Service Center. PSAR will deliver all items to the San Diego Food Bank. Please bring them to the three pitch sessions.

The government shutdown has disrupted the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), leaving many children and families without reliable access to food. To support our neighbors and help fill the gap, the Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® (PSAR) is hosting a food drive to benefit programs like the San Diego Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids Backpack Program. This program provides weekend meals for children who depend on school meal programs for daily nutrition.

PSAR is collecting non-perishable food items that will be delivered directly to the San Diego Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday -Friday at any PSAR Service Center.

PSAR Honors Toni Atkins and Juan Vargas for Championing Homeownership, Recognizes Local Leaders

The Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® also installed its 2025 Board of Directors during the celebratory event.

The Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® (PSAR) recently hosted a special event to honor the achievements of elected officials who have made significant strides in expanding housing accessibility and protecting property rights. The event recognized Senator Pro Tem Emeritus Toni G. Atkins and Congressman Juan Vargas for their leadership, along with several local leaders for their impactful contributions. The evening also celebrated the installation of PSAR’s 20254 Board of Directors.

Transforming Housing Policy in California:

LinkedPreview-PSAR68 Senator Pro Tem Emeritus Toni Atkins received the PSAR Key to Homeownership Award for her pivotal role in shaping housing policy in California. Atkins championed Senate Bill 9, the California Housing Opportunity and More Efficiency (HOME) Act, which simplifies the process for homeowners to create duplexes or subdivide properties, increasing the housing supply and affordability.

"SB 9 is about giving homeowners more flexibility and creating opportunities for families to achieve the dream of homeownership," said Atkins during her remarks.

Atkins authored the California Dream for All program, a shared appreciation loan program that has helped thousands of families across California achieve the dream of homeownership.

Atkins also strongly opposed Proposition 33, calling it "as deceptive as it is dangerous" and warning that it could "dramatically hinder new housing construction." Her leadership has been instrumental in addressing California’s housing crisis and advancing fair housing initiatives.

Advocating for Housing at the Federal Level: The Key's to Homeownership.

LinkedPreview-PSAR76 Congressman Juan Vargas was also honored with the PSAR Key to Homeownership Award for his tireless efforts to support homeownership at the national level. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Vargas has championed fair lending practices and policies to expand access to affordable housing resources.

During his remarks, Vargas shared a personal story about how his parents used the growing equity in their home to provide for their family. "My mother and father taught us the value of homeownership—not just as a place to live, but as a tool for opportunity. They put ten children through college because of the equity they built in their home," Vargas shared.

Recognizing Local Leaders:

PSAR also honored several local officials for with The Key to Homeownership Award for their dedication to advancing access to homeownership and protecting property rights. All of these elected officials opposed the anti-pro-housing bill Prop 33.:

State Senator Brian Jones: Introduced legislative packages addressing homelessness and housing availability.

Supervisor Joel Anderson: Supported efforts to fight homelessness, provide rental assistance, and provide workforce housing. He also opposed barriers to housing caused by VMT Policies.

Jordan Marks, San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk: Advocated for Proposition 13 protections, enhanced tax relief programs, and fought against real estate fraud.

John McCann, Chula Vista Mayor: Focused on public safety, economic growth, and homeowner education in Chula Vista.

Ron Morrison, National City Mayor: Opposed rent control measures that threaten property rights and prioritized homeownership opportunities.

Alonso Gonzalez, Chula Vista Deputy Mayor (And a PSAR Broker Member): Brought industry knowledge as a REALTOR® to advocate for equitable zoning and housing access.

Ditas Yamane, National City Vice Mayor: A former PSAR President who championed property rights and affordable homeownership.

Colin Parent, La Mesa Councilmember: Crafted policies like La Mesa’s ADU ordinance and affordable housing programs to expand housing options.

Celebrating PSAR Leadership:

The evening concluded with the installation of PSAR’s 20254 Board of Directors. The new board, led by incoming President Yvonne Cromer, will guide the association in its mission to empower real estate professionals and advance housing opportunities throughout San Diego County.

This special award may or may not be given out every year. This award is given to someone who has made considerable contributions in service to the industry over many years.

PSAR Distinguished Service Award. The ultimate recognition for the dedicated PSAR REALTOR^® who has always set themselves apart as a leader. REALTORS^® who receive the award have shown exceptionally meritorious service to PSAR for at least 10 years and have been recognized as local leaders whose performance and involvement in political, educational, and community activities have been extraordinary. This award will not be granted yearly because the bar is set that high.

The names of individuals making nominations will remain secret. The number of nominations shall not create an advantage for nominees. Award winners may not be the sitting President of the Association and may not be a past recipient of the specific award regardless of the geographic area where the prior award was won.

Recognition Committee will consist of the past recipient of each award, the Affiliate Director, and members of the Committee Council, which consists of the PSAR Committee Chairman. Winners will be announced at PSAR's Installation. Awards will be given at our upcoming REAL Awards in 2022. At least one runner-up will be announced.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PSAR R.E.A.L. AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Board of Directors, members, and staff of PSAR extend sincere congratulations to the more than 300 PSAR REALTOR® members who are honored with a 2020 Real Estate Achievement and Leadership (R.E.A.L.) award!

The PSAR R.E.A.L. awards program recognizes San Diego county’s top 10 percent PSAR producing agents and brokers who qualified for their awards based on units and/or dollar volume production, coupled with noteworthy industry leadership, in the 2020 business year.

The REAL Awards program provides a platform upon which the high achievers in the San Diego real estate market stand and receive the well-earned recognition of their sphere, peers and the industry as a whole. These leaders are the cream of a realtor crop numbering more than 19,000 in San Diego county.

“A hearty congratulations to everyone who received a 2020 R.E.A.L. Award from PSAR,” said Ditas Yamane, 2021 PSAR President. “To all the award recipients, your award broadcasts the value that you bring to our industry. It is a testament to your achievements and leadership. All of us at PSAR are particularly impressed at the levels of sales reached by those receiving the award for 2020 production, given the very challenging landscape in which everyone had to conduct their business endeavors last year.”

PSAR REALTOR® members received their R.E.A.L Awards based on CRMLS data extracts showing units sold and/or sales dollar volume for residential sales that closed in San Diego in year 2020.

Award recipients, both individuals and teams, who qualified for R.E.A.L. Awards fell into one of the following categories:

• Top 1%, over 30 sides or more than $27,064,246 in volume
• Top 3%, over 18 sides or $14,750,000 in volume
• Top 5%, over 14 sides or $10,834,000 in volume
• Top 10%, over 9 sides or $6,700,900 in volume.

Note that Award recipients are not eligible to receive both an individual and a team award.

Names of the Award recipients are appearing in a full-page ad to be published in The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper Sunday, February 28 edition. The ad can be viewed by clicking this pdf.

In addition, recipients will be invited to a YPN (Your Professional Network) R.E.A.L. Awards celebration from 4:00 pm to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 18, over Zoom. This event is a celebration of your 2020 achievements and those of your peers at a fun-filled activity hosted by PSAR's YPN! All REALTORS, brokers, and office personnel are welcome to attend.
