CSA Fair Housing Training - Familial Status

It is illegal to discriminate against anyone in a protected group in the sale or rental of housing, the seeking of a mortgage, housing assistance, or other housing-related activities. This training event instructs on how to utilize best practices in avoiding housing discrimination. 

This presentation covers Fair Housing and addresses Best Fair Housing Practices for Building Stronger Relationships With Buyers, Sellers, and the Community. It is designed for those new to the housing industry as well as experienced housing professionals wishing to learn about current issues impacting fair housing laws. This training is also relevant to nonprofit client-based or service-based organizations that assist individuals who may be subject to housing discrimination.

Candace Harper of the Center for Social Advocacy (CSA) San Diego will cover these topics:

  • Introduction to Federal and State Fair Housing Laws
  • The 3 P’s- Policies, Practices, and Procedures
  • Best Practices by establishing:
    • Solid rental criteria, applications, and contracts
    • Standard engagement procedures
    • Advertising standards
    • Procedures for handling challenging situations
