He was executive officer at the California Architects Board from 2001 to 2018. McCauley earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University.

Jeff has been a CAR Director for many years and has been Chairperson of the Standard Forms Committee a couple of times. He has been involved in the drafting of the Statewide CAR standardized forms for many years going back to the mid-1980s. He is also involved at the Southland Regional Association of Realtors, he trains on Contracts and Disclosures and is responsible for drafting the local forms used by SRAR.
